This road built Albuquerque, before the construction of rt 66, the entire population of the state of New Mexico was less then 10,000.... By 1955 albuquerque's population grew to 100,000+

@citywide44 A talented trifecta, if ever there was one.

Jack Webb was the producer of "Emergency", and Julie was his ex-wife. Pretty decent of Webb to give them both staring roles in the T.V. show.

He not only wrote this song, he played "Dr. Joe Early" on the TV show "Emergency!". His real-life wife Julie London (a noted torch song singer in her own right) played "Nurse Dixie McCall" on the same show.

How can we shift our conversation off of YouTube, so that it is private?

Where do you play? My brother lives in LA and was also friendly with Bobby and Julie. Maybe he can come by and listen. My son had played Route 66 in his jazz band back in HS (he played flute) and when he heard I actually knew the composer, he was very excited.

Yes, I live in LA. Aside from my "day job", I play bass in a trio. We play "Route 66" and it would be fun to do "Girl Talk", if weren't so outrageously sexist!

I live in NYC, are you in Cali?
U.S. Route 66 (also known as Route 66, U.S. Highway 66, The Main Street of America, The Mother Road and the Will Rogers Highway) was a highway in the U.S. Highway system. One of the original federal routes, US 66 was established on November 11, 1926, though signs did not go up until the following year.[1] It originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, before ending at Los Angeles for a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km).
"(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66", often rendered simply as "Route 66", is a popular song and rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. It was first recorded in the same year by Nat King Cole, and was subsequently covered by many artists including Chuck Berry in 1961 and The Rolling Stones in 1964. The song's lyrics follow the path of the U.S. Route 66 highway, which used to run a large distance across the US, going from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California. The title was suggested to Troup by his first wife, Cynthia.
